CM Punk has kept plenty busy since his WWE contract expired earlier this month, and the "Best in the World" appeared on the MMA Hour to discuss the upcoming Daniel Cormier fight against Jon Jones at UFC 178 while making it clear he wouldn't discuss wrestling.

WWE Possibly Using Daniel Bryan's Burglary Incident For Storyline

Punk spoke with host Ariel Helwani and Daniel Cormier via phone on the show and gave his insight on the upcoming fight between Cormier and Jones for the UFC Light Heavyweight Title in Las Vegas at UFC 178 on Sept. 27 at the MGM Grand Garden.

"On paper a lot of ways this is a pick 'em...It's 50/50," Punk said about the fight. "You can't take anything away from Jon Jones. I think very much momentum is in the corner of Cormier though."

Punk, who said he will be on-hand for the fight, praised the UFC fighters for stepping up and overcoming injuries.

"I just love the fighters that step up," Punk said. "People get hurt all the time and it's a part of the sport and it sucks, but there's always those guys that are fight-ready and they step up and I love that."

Punk walked out on the WWE back in January on the night after the Royal Rumble prior to a live Monday Night RAW episode due to the fact that he was annoyed at the way the company was using his character and due to being fed up with the rigorous travel schedule.

There were rumors that Punk may pursue a mixed martial arts career, but nothing has been confirmed since he walked out on the WWE.

The WWE initially tried to get Punk back, but it became clear he wasn't going to return after he skipped the March 3 edition of RAW, the huge WrestleMania XXX event and the Payback pay-per-view in June from Illinois.

Punk has enjoyed his free-time and being "retired" from the ring as he's appeared at various Chicago sporting events and made several television appearances.

It doesn't seem as though Punk will return to the squared circle, and it was said last week upon his contract expiring, that things are worse than ever between Punk and the WWE.
