It had been reported that the WWE was planning on doing a Buried Alive match between WWE World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan and Kane at Money in the Bank if Bryan was healthy enough to compete, but the company announced a Stretcher Match instead.
John Cena Suffers Eye Injury At Live Event
Kane and Bryan were slated to have a Buried Alive Match earlier this month at Payback, but Bryan had to undergo minor neck surgery to repair injuries he accumulated over the years, forcing the WWE to change its plans for the event. Stephanie McMahon then began a storyline where she wanted Bryan to hand over the title but he hasn't.
It was then rumored that if Bryan was healthy enough to compete on June 29 at Money in the Bank inside the TD Garden in Boston, the Buried Alive Match would happen then. The WWE then changed it to a Stretcher Match when building up to the next event.
Possible Plans For Tag Team Championships At Money in the Bank
According to Wrestlingheadlines.com, it is a possibility that the WWE changed its plans on the match because the Buried Alive stipulation gives the feud finality and it's possible that the company wants to expand the feud beyond the next pay-per-view.
If Bryan isn't healthy enough to compete since his recovery timetable has been up in the air, the WWE Championship will be put on the line in the Money in the Bank ladder match instead.
It has been said that Vince McMahon has been the one behind the booking of the title lately with the storyline between Bryan and Stephanie McMahon. There is still no definitive timetable on when Bryan will return to action, but August's SummerSlam remains a worst-case scenario return date.
The plans for Bryan and the title are very much up in the air, but if the WWE Champion is healthy enough to return to the ring at the end of this month, he will battle Kane in a Stretcher Match at Money in the Bank.
