But with Fisher's Oklahoma City Thunder still alive in the playoffs and the 39-year-old veteran having recently told reporters he plans to sit out a year to be with family before undertaking a front office or coaching career, Mark Jackson's stock could be on the uprise.

In his three seasons in Golden State, Jackson led the Warriors to back-to-back playoff berths, including this season when he led the team to their first 50-win season in nearly two decades.

Mark Jackson to be fired?

Jackson's desire to someday coach the team he grew up rooting for as a boy has long been documented. With ties to the league spanning more than 20-years, Jackson started his NBA career with the Knicks in 1987-88, winning the league's Rookie of the Year Award that same season.

The Post adds Phil Jackson is also leaning toward interviewing former assistants Kurt Rambis and Jim Cleamons, but needs to ask permission from the Lakers and Bucks, respectively.
