Vince McMahon to purchase Newcastle United? [VIDEO] WWE Chairman looking into buying soccer club?

WWE CEO and Chairman Vince McMahon is reportedly looking to go outside the ring and onto the soccer pitch. The WWE boss is allegedly interested in purchasing Newcastle United, an English Premier League club.

According to Inquisitr.com, the WWE owner has been in preliminary discussions about taking over the team after current New Castle owner Mike Ashley hinted that he wants to sell his stake in the team.

A report from Winner Sports, revealed that an insider told them that McMahon has shown some interest in undertaking the club.

"Vince McMahon has been sniffing around the club and seems keen on pursuing his interest. He sees England as an untapped market for his wrestling empire. He has even indicated he could put on wrestling bouts at St James' Park," the source told Winner Sports.

The source also told Winner Sports that the wrestling owner is still trying develop a plan to take over the team and it's in the early stages.

"Obviously it is very early days but there is hope the fans may get what they want with Ashley leaving. Buying a club like Newcastle would throw him into the spotlight in England which is just what he is looking to do," the source said.

The WWE has had a great fanbase in England for a long time, and even put on an outdoor show at Wembley Stadium in London in 1992 when the WWE produced SummerSlam that August.

According to Inqusitr, McMahon is believed to have a net worth of just over $1 billion and as of April the Magpies were valued at $263 million.

The Guardian reported in 2011 that past rumors of McMahon being interested in Newcastle United in the past were false because the reports only started to gain momentum after the rumors were spread over social media.

It's unknown at this time if McMahon's interest in purchasing the team is true or just the 2011 rumors being rehashed.
