UCLA football is nearly back to the glory days, and head coach Jim Mora hopes to finish 2013 off with a win in the Sun Bowl for his No. 17-ranked Bruins (9-3, 6-3 Pac-12) when they face off with the Virginia Tech Hokies (8-4, 5-3 ACC) at the Sun Bowl in El Paso, Texas at 2:00 p.m. ET. Watch the game on CBS or live stream it here. UCLA fans can hear the game on 570 AM Fox Sports LA, while Tech fans may do the same on 105.3 The Bear.
Mora's looking to get UCLA its first bowl victory in four years, while also fending off rumors he has eyes for the vacancy at Texas that will be left by Mack Brown's resignation.
"Rumors. It's flattering," Mora said. "I think it says a lot about our program and the direction we're heading, but I am very, very, very extremely delightfully happy to be the head coach at UCLA, and want to be for a very long time."
Mora's been helped by having arguably the top quarterback in the Pac-12 in tow, Brett Hundley. He led the conference this season in completion percentage (68.7) in addition to throwing for 2,845 yards, 22 touchdowns and nine interceptions. As if that weren't good enough, Hundley tops the Bruins in rushing yards with 587 to go with nine rushing touchdowns.
Virginia Tech will be far from a cakewalk though, as they enter play giving up just 17.4 points per game. Mora had high praise for Frank Beamer's outfit, which is playing in its 21st straight bowl game.
"They play great special teams, they play outstanding defense. That's what they do," Mora said. "They play hard. They play with discipline. You don't see technique errors. You don't see missed assignments. You see a bunch of guys who know what they're supposed to do with a lot of certainty, and they do it fast and they do it with bad intentions.
