Today at 2:45 p.m. ET AC Milan will host what figures to be an epic match against Ajax, with both teams battling for the second spot in UEFA Champions League Group H at Stadio Giuseppe Mezza in a game that can be live streamed here.
AC Milan is a point away from qualifying for the knockout stage, and will take the pitch against their direct competition for that distinction today. "This is a crucial game for the two sides and it's going to be a battle," said Milan midfielder Kaka.
"We don't want to let our fans down and we will do all that we can to progress to the next round."
Milan has been stellar in the Champions League, but not so much in Serie A, which might be giving hope to Ajax heading into this tilt. "We will need to show a vast improvement against Ajax from our performance at Livorno," coach Massimiliano Allegri said.
In Serie A Milan has only won once in their last nine games, and ninth in the table.
Ajax coach Frank De Boer doesn't plan on rolling over for the scuffling Serie A team that puts aside their troubles during Champions League matchups. "We want to return to play in the Champions League after the Christmas break," Ajax De Boer said. "I think we have the qualities to do that.
"But we'll need to play against Milan the same way as we did against Barcelona."
Ajax stunned Barcelona 2-1 last month, and Barcelona previously handed Milan a 3-1 defeat. Despite some good play of late, Ajax remains an underdog. They will take the pitch with a minus-three goal differential, while AC Milan has registered a plus-three through five group stage games.
Ajax will be without Nicolai Boilesen, Siem De Jong and Lerin Duarte due to injury, while defender Joel Veltman must serve a one-game suspension.
