Adrien Broner, the brash welterweight champion known for running his prodigious mouth, is at it again. Showtime's All Access, a show that follows the training camps of two fighters leading to their showdowns, will kick off on December 7th and keep up with "The Problem," as well as his opponent Marcos Maidana.
Broner has not been shy about boasting before this fight, expected to be the most difficult of his career. Marcos Maidana is by far the most powerful opponent of his career, but that didn't stop "The Problem" from saying he would light "El Chino" up like a Christmas tree.
That comment was weeks ago; in the trailer for All Access Broner is heard brushing off Maidana's grit. "I know what I'm up against," Broner said. "A steak is tough too, but if you beat it enough it'll get tender."
In that same trailer the hungry Maidana didn't just accept Broner's talk. "I know that he's no Floyd Mayweather," Maidana said. "He's just climbing up the ranks. It's another category he will be fighting in."
The December 14th card is featuring more than one knockout artist though. On the same night, fast-rising Keith "One-Time" Thurman will step in the ring with Jesus Soto Karass in a fight that could lead to a pay-per-view date for the winner.
This will be the highest-profile bout of Thurman's career, and he is planning to use it as a launching pad to eventually meet Floyd Mayweather Jr. "That's sort of the mentality that had me calling out Floyd Mayweather in my first appearance on a big network. You know, here I am, and I'm the young dude coming up in the ring, and I'm letting the whole world know who my actual target is," Thurman said.
"You can doubt me as much as you want, but you are going to watch me throughout my career climb that ladder and reach the destination that I foresaw, and the one that I told you about, and that's Floyd 'Money' Mayweather. Jesus Soto Karass is just one of those steppingstones that I have to get by if I want to make that dream come true."
