Today at 1:00 p.m. ET the Detroit Lions (6-3) will shoot for a second straight road win when they face off with the struggling Pittsburgh Steelers at Heinz Field on Fox, in an inter-conference battle that can be live streamed here. Lions fans can hear the game on 97.1 FM The Ticket, while Steelers fans can tune in to the radio broadcast on WDVE 102.5.
The Lions are in first place in the NFC after Week 10 for the first time since 1999, and head coach Jim Schwartz couldn't be happier following a four-win campaign last year that had him on the hot seat.
"Being successful in this league is dealing with adversity and bouncing back, but it's increasingly becoming part of the scope of the NFL to deal with praise and to deal with the accolades and things like that," Schwartz said. "It makes it difficult to stay level headed. It makes it difficult to stay even keeled throughout the course of a season."
While Detroit's winning in uncharacteristic fashion, the Steelers are losing game after game while playing shockingly soft defense. In Week 9 they were gashed for 55 point by the New England Patriots, then had a week off to soak in the memory. Now, they take on the best wide receiver in football, Calvin Johnson.
"Johnson needs no endorsement from me," Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said. "He is the best wide receiver in the game and one of the best football players period regardless of position in the game of professional football."
The Lions aren't going to walk onto Pittsburgh's field as a cocky unit however, as quarterback Matthew Stafford expressed respect for their tradition and playmaking potential.
"Their defense is playing well," Stafford said. "They still have playmakers. They have guys that can get after the passes, guys that can pick it off. (Troy) Polamalu is still a big time playmaker. Got to be mentally ready for this game."
