Tonight at 9:30 p.m. ET the No. 5 Kansas Jayhawks, featuring superstar freshman Andrew Wiggins, will take the United Center court in Chicago against No. 4 Duke and their own stud prospect Jabari Parker on ESPN. Live stream the showdown here for free; Kansas fans can tune in to the radio broadcast on KJHK 90.7 FM, while Cameron Crazies can follow the action on 620 The Buzz AM.
The Jayhawks boast the top prospect in the nation, Wiggins, who is widely expected to be taken first overall in this summer's NBA draft. It is often forgotten, though, that he assumed that mantle from Duke's star Jabari Parker. In Parker's Duke debut he scored 22 points and added six rebounds, looking every bit as impressive as Wiggins.
The players' similar size and stature makes tonight's faceoff scintillating. Parker seems less focused on one-upping Wiggins tonight, and more pumped to be playing in Chicago.
"It's just very good that we scheduled a game back in Chicago, playing at the United Center," Parker said. "My fans get to see me. That's what's most important. Just being here is great, but in all reality we just have to come up with a win. I'm really excited."
When asked about Parker's debut, Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski said, "First game in college -- are you kidding me?"
Wiggins' first game, in which he scored 16 points and notched three boards and three steals, didn't get the same praise from his coach Bill Self. "He did some good things," Self said. "I think he can be more aggressive, but I think all the guys can be more aggressive."
Kansas, like Kentucky who will precede this game on ESPN, is reliant on several youngsters for contributions, which will be difficult against a more experienced team.
"I think we're ready," Self said. "I wish that we had a couple more weeks, and I'm sure all teams this time of year wish they had a couple more weeks before they play somebody of the quality of opponent Duke is."
