Adrien "The Problem" Broner was bumped off of pay-per-view for his December 14th clash with Marcos "El Chino" Maidana, and now appears to have a weight problem.

In a recent appearance to promote the biggest fight of Broner's career to date, he looked extremely overweight and in danger of being unable to reach the 147-lb. limit for his bout with Maidana.
"The Problem" has a history of weight issues, and has not always been able to overcome them. Broner was willfully overweight when he took on Vicente Escobedo, who was an overmatched opponent. Judging from his physique, he will need to train heavily in the coming weeks to make weight which could hinder him when he faces the heavy-handed Maidana.
While he must be aware of his condition, Broner's not letting on any concern about his knockout artist of an opponent, deriding him as one-dimensional. "I'm a Ferrari and he's a go-kart and my fans will see that in my return to Texas. It's been over four years since I've fought there and I'm going to put on a show. Watch me light Maidana up like a Christmas tree on Dec. 14." He also said Maidana "is not in my league."
Maidana, who has piled up 34 wins in his career, with 31 of them coming via the knockout, seems unfazed by Broner's brash boasting. Whether or not he's "one dimensional," Maidana said that dimension will be on fill display September 14th.
"Everyone knows that Broner has a big mouth, but that doesn't bother me, because his mouth can't fight for him," said Maidana (34-3, 31 KO). "Whether he has the guts to stand in front of me or if he runs I'll definitely go for the KO and either way, I'm leaving the ring with the belt."
Broner is a supremely talented fighter, but he'd be wise to kick his camp into high gear. Maidana has gone 5-1 in his last six fights; the only loss was to Devon Alexander, while four of those wins came by knockout, none of which came later than Round 8.
