Los Angeles Lakers News: Cheater Nick Young Deserves As Much Blame As D'Angelo Russell [VIDEO]

At least we know now why Swaggy P was OK with postponing his marriage to Iggy Azalea.

While it seems the world is angry with Los Angeles Lakers rookie D'Angelo Russell for shooting a video he took of teammate Nick Young admitting to cheating on Azalea that he says somehow fell into the wrong hands and went viral, no one, other than Iggy, seems to be overly concerned with Young's behavior.

Lakers Have Reason To Explore Trading D'Angelo Russell

ESPN anchor Scott Van Pelt's tepid admonishment seems to indicate the reaction toward Young.

"As for Nick Young, this is not suggesting that whatever he did is OK," Van Pelt said, "but that's between him and one person, isn't it?"

D'Angelo Russell Video Of Nick Young Saying He Cheated On Iggy Azalea Goes Viral

Is it? More than twelve years ago, the Lakers' 2003-04 season was disrupted because of what started to be an infidelity between Kobe Bryant and a woman, who filed sexual assault charges against the Los Angeles superstar (the charges eventually were dropped). But chemistry had to be an issue on a team that had Kobe, Shaquille O'Neal, Karl Malone (yes, he was injured during the NBA Finals) and Gary Payton for that team not win a title.

Who among us wouldn't want to know if our significant other was cheating on us? Why do you think Azalea tweeted her thanks to Russell for bringing the matter to her attention? No matter how egregious Russell's actions were -- and they were egregious -- Young wouldn't have a problem if he wasn't cheating on Azalea.

Even before the video incident, Russell was earning the reputation of being immature, but who on the Lakers is there to actually help him mature?

"Is anyone surprised by this though?" complex.com asked. "The Lakers have been a dysfunctional mess all season long, what with Kobe Bryant's farewell tour taking precedence over everything, Swaggy being Swaggy, and Byron Scott benching Russell and second-year forward Julius Randle without even telling them why. Scott apparently doesn't feel the need to deal with Russell's latest misstep at all. 'I haven't talked to him, won't talk to him,' Scott told ESPN's Baxter Holmes. 'That's an internal matter that our guys will deal with.' Meanwhile, a Lakers fan from Ohio has started a petition to take D'Angelo's phone away. Jim Buss, who is about to enter the third year of a three-year probationary period and who may have known more than the rest of us, may as well start packing up his office now."

So the coach won't address the incident, the star player is too busy on his farewell tour to offer anything besides some on-the-court strategy and his close friend, Young, is hitting on teens that are 11 years younger than him while he's engaged.

Character never was a prerequisite to be a champion, but it certainly couldn't hurt.

If the hope is that Russell learns from his mistake and grows up quickly, the same should be said about Young.
