Today at 2:45 p.m. ET, Bayern Munich and Viktoria Plzen duke it out in UEFA Group D action live from the Allianz Arena in Germany. The game can be live streamed here.
Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola insists that even though his team is on the top of Group D with six points from two games and Viktoria Plzen enters at the bottom of the group with no points while already allowing six goals against it, that he's still wary entering a game where he knows what Plzen is capable of doing.
"We have great respect for the opponents' counter-attacking," Guardiola told the team's Twitter account. "Against Manchester City they played very well in the first half."
Bayern has been very impressive thus far in the Champions League, opening up with a 3-0 home win over CSKA Moscow and then following it up with a 3-1 victory over Manchester City on the road in their previous match.
Captain Philipp Lahm admitted the team is off to a booming start but emphasized the need for it to step on the gas pedal going forward.
"We are in a very, very good position with six points from the first two games, now we want to add more," he told ESPN.
Franck Ribery (ankle) is listed as doubtful for Bayern, but Guardiola said he trained "very well," while Javi Martinez was also listed as doubtful with a groin injury.
Plzen comes off of two losses, having dropped a 3-0 result at home to Manchester City and then falling 3-2 to CSKA Moscow in its last outing.
Plzen goalkeeper Matus Kozacik realizes it's a sizeable task that his squad is facing.
"Bayern are certainly the best team in the world, they managed to win last season in domestic competition and the Champions League," Kozacik told the team's official website. "It seems to me that they [Bayern and Guardiola] are a great combination and they are even stronger than Barcelona."
Bayern looks to keep rolling after a roaring start while Plzen tries to get its first points when these teams go head-to-head live from Germany this afternoon.
