Today at 1:00 p.m. the St. Louis Rams (3-3), coming off a shocking upset against the Houston Texans will travel to Carolina to take on the ferocious front line of the Panthers (2-3) in a game that can be live streamed here. Rams fans can listen to the game on 101 ESPN, while Panthers fans can hear the action on WBT 1110 AM.
The Rams have been vacillating this season between promising up-and-comer and downtrodden dormat. After a rousing Week 1 win, the Rams dropped three straight games before reeling off two more wins. "They really never lost their confidence, they just lost games," head coach Jeff Fisher said.
When asked about quarterback Sam Bradford, Fisher said "He's been great, no mistakes. He's managing the game. He's carrying on."
Meanwhile, Carolina entered last week seemingly on the verge of another cripplingly poor start. Head coach Ron Rivera went against the grain on a few fourth down situations that sparked Carolina to an impressive win.
"Sometimes you play by the book and you miss opportunities," Rivera said. "It's been an enlightening situation for me and one of the things I want to try to do is make sure we're in the best position to win."
Rivera's risk-taking showed faith in oft-maligned quarterback Cam Newton, who thrived with the responsibility. "For him to trust us means a lot and it speaks volumes," Newton said. "He is a defensive coach by nature, so he always has that conservative mentality. But I think that he is kind of breaking his mold to a degree, and giving the whole team confidence with him."
Newton believes the victory can carry over into this week. "We know our hands are going to be full against a team that's also coming off a big win, but if we get a lot of help from our fans and execute up to our capabilities, we'll be OK."
