AJ Styles finally made his official WWE debut this past Sunday at the Royal Rumble.
Twitter Reacts To Sheamus' Suspected Injury
"The Phenomenal One" appeared as a surprise entrant in the 30-man Rumble Match and had a great showing before ultimately being eliminated. He then dazzled in his debut on RAW and took part in the SmackDown tapings.
Now, the question has emerged as to which Superstar will engage Styles in his first long-term feud in the WWE. Here are potential candidates.
Daniel Bryan's WWE Career May Be Over
1) Chris Jericho
"Y2J" makes a lot of sense because both of these stars are well-traveled veterans and Jericho was Styles' first singles opponent on RAW. The two savvy Superstars stole the show on Monday (well, until The Rock showed up) and put on a tremendous match. Even though they showed mutual respect after the bout, if Jericho were to build up animosity for the loss and turn heel, the two could have a jaw-dropping program together.
2) Kevin Owens
The former Intercontinental Champion seems to have beef with everyone on the roster these days, but his showdown with Styles in the Rumble Match on Sunday was one of the big stand-out moments of the night. The WWE's resident prize fighter was the man who eliminated the former TNA and New Japan Pro Wrestling standout, and the WWE could easily build off of that momentum.
3) Neville
The WWE usually steers clear of babyface vs. babyface feuds, but seeing "The Man That Gravity Forgot" go up against Styles could be tremendous. These two high-flyers could engage in a series of matches, carving out a friendly rivalry based on one-upmanship.
4) Dolph Ziggler
"The Showoff" has been a bit lost in the shuffle as of late, and could use a boost in breaking out of his funk. Similar to Neville, this would be a face vs. face dynamic, but if the WWE gave Ziggler an edge and turned him heel, this could be quite the feud. Both men are tremendous in-ring workers and could easily tear the house down in a long-term program.
5) The Undertaker
This seems like a random matchup, but since 'Taker has yet to battle the face of WCW in Sting, maybe he'll get a chance to clash with TNA's marquee man. This match would definitely be an interesting concept, and with The Undertaker's suspected WrestleMania opponent, John Cena, sidelined with a shoulder injury, he needs someone new to battle at the biggest event of the year.
