Tonight at 8:37 p.m., the Los Angeles Dodgers kick off their National League Divisional Series with the Atlanta Braves at Turner Field on TBS in a game that can also be live streamed here. Dodgers fans can listen to the game on 570 Fox Sports LA, while Braves fans can tune in to 93.7 FM.
The Dodgers may have been the most dominant team in the National League over the second half of the season, but they'll be without bopper Matt Kemp for this series due to a bad ankle, and fellow outfielder Andre Ethier could be limited too.
Ethier may be able to pinch hit, but said his own ankle problems have rendered him unable to play the field. "The ankle is getting better every day," he said. "It's not as fast as we want, but it's definitely on the timetable that we knew going in. Every day that it doesn't get more sore and set me back is a good day."
Dodgers first baseman Adrian Gonzalez said the loss of Kemp won't get the team down. "Matt is a great player, but we have a bunch of great players behind him."
One of those players for Los Angeles is the best pitcher in baseball, Clayton Kershaw, who won his third consecutive ERA title after posting a 1.82 ERA in 2013. Only four other starters in baseball history have ever won three straight ERA titles, Greg Maddux, Sandy Koufax, Lefty Grove and Roger Clemens; even more impressive, all were over the age of 26 when their streaks began, and Kershaw is just 25 years old.
Dodgers first baseman Adrian Gonzalez said the loss of Kemp won't get the team down. "Matt is a great player, but we have a bunch of great players behind him."
The Braves will counter Kershaw with Kris Medlen. While that seems like a mismatch on paper, Atlanta has no qualms about their ace matching L.A's. "Some guys thrive in these situations. Some guys don't," catcher Brian McCann said. "He's definitely one of those guys that the bigger the moment, the more he thrives."
