Tom Brady Calling Brandon Lloyd, Deion Branch? Patriots 3-0, Passing Game Grounded Without Gronkowski, Amendola [VIDEO]

The New England Patriots are 3-0 to start the 2013 season, but their glossy record isn't fooling many people; this is not the same dominant team of the past few seasons.

Tight end Rob Gronkowski is still recovering from forearm and back surgeries, Danny Amendola is out indefinitely with hip flexor problems, and Aaron Hernandez was cut from the team this offseason after being arrested and charged with murder.

That has left Tom Brady with inconsistent rookies to throw to, and he's looked pretty frustrated at times doing. Last week in a 23-3 win over the hapless Tampa Bay Buccaneers Brady threw for 225 yards, two touchdowns and one interception, decent numbers but very pedestrian by Brady's Hall of Fame standards.

That's why, according to reports, Brady is reaching out to some old targets to provide some help and familiarity while the new receivers figure out where their supposed to be and when they are expected to be there.

NFL Network has reported Brady's been calling and texting ex-Patriots Brandon Lloyd and Deion Branch. Branch is believed to be ready, willing and able to return as soon as New England wants him.

The same can't be said for Lloyd who isn't in game shape after spending most of his time away from the NFL starring in After Effect, a direct-to-DVD zombie movie about college students who unwittingly sign up for a military experiment gone wrong.

In his career Branch has played 89 games for New England, catching 328 passes for 4,297 yards and 24 touchdowns. He was named the 2004 Super Bowl MVP after reeling in 11 passes for 133 yards against the Philadelphia Eagles. He was part of two Super Bowl wins for the Patriots in 2003 and 2004.

He also played for the Patriots in 2011, when New England dropped their second Super Bowl to the New York Giants.
