Matt Harvey Awkward Interview With Dan Patrick [VIDEO]; Mets Ace Refuses To Answer Questions About Dr. James Andrews, Torn UCL

New York Mets pitcher Matt Harvey appeared on The Dan Patrick Show Wednesday to discuss the San Diego-based telecommunications company Qualcomm, and refused to let Patrick ask him questions about his injuries.  Harvey awkwardly avoided answering any queries about his visit with Dr. James Andrews in Florida earlier this week, just one day after news broke that the Mets ace was going to rehab for up to two months before making a decision on Tommy John surgery.

Harvey, 24, avoided any questions Patrick had regarding the injury that has sidelined him for the rest of 2013 after an MRI revealed a partially torn ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow, because in the ace's words he was "supporting and honoring Qualcomm."

When Patrick attempted to try and get any little detail out of Harvey about his meeting with Dr. Andrews this past Monday and what made him avoid the Tommy John surgery that would likely sideline him for all of 2014 if he undergoes it, Harvey wouldn't bite.

"I did all of those answers yesterday and maybe at the appropriate time we can talk about that," Harvey said on the show. "But, today is about Qualcomm."

Harvey's resistance made for an awkward interview, and the pitcher acknowledged his mistakes via his Twitter account while apologizing to both Patrick and Qualcomm:

Harvey was having a stellar first big-league season with the sub-par New York Mets. Harvey had a 9-5 record, a 2.27 ERA, a .931 WHIP and 191 strikeouts before the injury sidelined him back in August.

The Mets revealed that an MRI showed Harvey had the partial tear back on Aug. 26, and Harvey has been seeking out opinions from several people in hopes not to avoid the Tommy John surgery that will force him to miss at least a year's worth of action. After a visit with renowned surgeon Dr. Andrews on Tuesday, Harvey decided to rehab it further for one or two months and then throw to see if he can stave off the operation.

After a couple of exhausting days with a trip back-and-forth to Florida to visit Andrews over a stressful situation, perhaps the interview was poorly timed by Harvey's camp.
