Today at 1:00 p.m. Chip Kelly and his Philadelphia Eagles will be pushing the limits of offensive tempo once again, this time against the San Diego Chargers. Live stream the game here; Eagles fans can listen in on the game at 94 WYSP, while Chargers fans can hear the action on Rock 105.3 FM.
The Chargers may have lightning bolts on their helmets, but it's the Eagles who are bringing the electricity these days. They ran an astounding 53 offensive plays in the first half of their Week 1 victory over the Washington Redskins.
In what should be scary news for San Diego, Kelly actually found his guys were running the offense too slow.
"I felt like it was slow, to be honest with you," Kelly said. "I'm not joking. We've got to do a better job. We left the ball on the ground too much. We didn't get the ball to the officials. We could have sped things up from a process between plays. That's something we need to continue to work on."
Quarterback Michael Vick concurred, and added that they made too many mistakes against the 'Skins. "We've got to keep working. There are a lot of mistakes we made," said Vick. "I think (in) the second half, we got a little bit sloppy."
Chargrs quarterback Philip Rivers commended Philly's offense, but also said that the defense is equally quick and daunting.
"I know everyone's talking how fast their offense is and how fast they play, but their defense is the same way," Rivers said. "Their personnel is fast and they just fly around."
