Ndamukong Suh Hit [VIDEO]: Lions DT Appealing Fine For Dirty Block On John Sullivan, Cleared In Pellet Gun Incident

Detroit Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh has been in plenty of trouble on the field, but was able to escape problems off the gridiron as he was recently cleared of an incident involving him allegedly flashing a pellet gun as a threat to a cable repairman in Birmingham, Mich.

USA Today Sports reports that Birmingham chief of police Mark Clemence said no charges have been filed against Suh for the incident and that video surveillance footage taken from his home give credence to the tackle's account of what transpired with the repairman.

The incident stems back to 9 p.m. ET on Aug. 16 when Comcast employee Spencer Ferrell, 22, called police and informed them that Suh had threatened him with a gun while he was attempting to fix a utility pole in Suh's backyard, according to USA Today Sports. The phone call was placed just one day after Detroit dropped its Week 2 preseason game to the Browns in Cleveland 24-6.

According to police reports, Ferrell said that Suh cursed at him and pointed the gun up in the air, but not at Ferrell, and Ferrell thought at the time it was an AK-47.

USA Today reports that Suh cooperated with police and his account of the story was that he heard rustling in his trees and grabbed the pellet gun before aiming it at the trees as a way to protect his family.

"If you think I show aggression on the football field, I would show more to protect my family," Suh told officers in the report, according to USA Today.

The police report indicates that the video described exactly what Suh said happened and then Ferrell approached him and the two communicated for a short period of time.

Suh was eventually cleared of any crimes in the incident.

Suh was not cleared by the NFL on Tuesday after a violent blindsiding hit on Minnesota Vikings center John Sullivan Sunday that saw Suh take out the center's knees while his back was turned. Suh was fined $100,000 for the hit but plans to appeal.

A video of the hit can be seen here.

The fine was Suh's sixth in his NFL career, and Roger Goodell is looking to lay down the law on repeat offenders now more than ever. Since Suh fit the bill as a repeat offender, he received a hefty fine.

Suh, who's had many on field troubles during his three-year NFL career to go along with various run-ins with police off-the-field, said he wasn't sure if the league was suspending him based on reputation or the severity of the hit.

"You got to ask the league that question, whether they wanted to make a decision off my reputation or off of this year or whatever it may be," Suh told NFL.com. "It's the first game of the year, so I don't know."

While Suh may end up having to pay the hefty levy the NFL handed down to him depending on the appeals process goes for his hit on Sullivan, he can rest a little easier knowing he won't have any legal trouble with the pellet incident.
