Floyd Mayweather Canelo Fight, Andre Ward Prediction: 'Money' Will Dominate Saul Alvarez; Canelo Needs Lucky Punch To Win [VIDEO]

Predictions continue to roll in regarding Floyd Mayweather Jr.'s upcoming fight with Saul "Canelo" Alvarez on September 14th that is being billed as "The One."

While Mayweather is considered the top pound-for-pound fighter in the sport, super middleweight luminary Andre Ward is almost universally regarded as boxing's No. 2. While Ward has been recuperating from a shoulder injury and hasn't been inside a ring in over a year, he's still following the comings and goings closely. And he has an opinion on what will go down September 14th in Las Vegas.

"I think that you've got to go with Floyd Mayweather. Even though Canelo has a lot of fights, he's really got a lot of...really there's just one guy that jumps out that is a top-level fighter, and that's Austin Trout. Baldomir was older. No disrespect to Shane Mosley, but Shane was a little older, even though Shane was still dangerous."

Ward's prediction fits in with Mayweather's recent comments about his familiarity in high-profile bouts, as opposed to Canelo's limited experience in that realm. Alvarez has headlined shows before and done well, but his pay-per-view chops are still untested.

Ward also believes that Mayweather's defensive skills will be too great for Alvarez to penetrate.

"I just don't see anything other than Canelo landing a lucky punch that gives him a shot to win. And even in landing a lucky punch, that doesn't mean that Floyd Mayweather is just going to fold and crumble and be knocked out. Floyd has gotten hit in fights, and he's taken those hits and he's come back and he fights. I just don't see it. If I'm wrong, it won't be the first time that I'm wrong, and it may not be the last. But I just don't see it."

While boxing fans are likely happy to hear from Ward, they also want to see him back in action. Ward is making noise about a November 16th date with Edwin Rodriguez, but that scenario seems unlikely after Rodriguez chose promoter Al Haymon as his manager.

Ward always fights on HBO, while Haymon has a strong relationship with Showtime boxing.
