Tony Romo Injury [VIDEO]: Dallas Cowboys Quarterback To Have X-Rays On Ribs Monday Following Week 1 Win Over New York Giants

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo helped lead his team to a Week 1 victory over the NFC East rival New York Giants, but the victory didn't come without some pain. Romo hurt his ribs in the second quarter of the game, and will undergo X-rays Monday to find out what the severity of the injury is.

Romo was leveled by two Giants defensive ends, and stayed down on the turf just before halftime of the team's eventual 36-31 win over New York. USA Today reports that the initial diagnosis on Romo was that the 10-year quarterback just had the wind knocked out of him, but the X-ray results will determine if anything more severe happened to his back or ribs.

Romo returned after halftime and finished the game, connecting with tight end Jason Witten for two touchdown passes while also throwing an interception and being sacked twice. Overall, Romo was 36-for-49 for 263 yards. Romo downplayed any serious injuries following the game.

"I'm going to be fine," Romo told USA Today Sports of the injury. "Mine is nothing really crazy."

Cowboys' owner Jerry Jones watched from high atop AT&T Stadium, but said that doctors reassured him during the game that Romo would be okay to come back in.

"It was not deemed by anyone here, doctors, trainers or him, to be something that would compromise him in the game," Jones said per USA Today. "I'm sure it's sore, I'm sure it hurt, but still we certainly felt comfortable with him back there."

Romo showed a little bit of pain when he threw upon returning to the game, but ended up finishing fine without taking any x-rays, but he knows injuries and wear and tear are just part of the game.

"I don't think I've ever gone through a season and didn't have some things that linger," Romo told USA Today Sports. "But there's no excuse for anybody. No one really cares. That's the truth when people are banged up in football."

The Cowboys will find out how banged up Romo really is on Monday.
