The Houston Texans and Dallas Cowboys will meet tonight in a battle for the hearts of Texas, or at least for some backup bragging rights. The final preseason game for both teams kicks off at 8:00 p.m. and can be live streamed here. Cowboys fans can listen to the game on 105.3 The Fan, while Texans fans can do the same on Bull 100.3 FM.
Tonight's game between these two squads will be about staying healthy and preparing for a 2013 season for which both teams and their fanbases have high hopes.
The Cowboys, while they've underwhelmed the last few seasons, will enter 2013 with the most stability of any team in the NFC East. The Eagles have a new head coach with what many expect to be a radical new offensive system. The New York Giants have injury concerns along their defensive line, a subpar linebacking corps, and suspect secondary, and the Washington Redskins have a superstar mobile quarterback in Robert Griffin III coming off major knee surgery.
Meanwhile, Tony Romo is armed with superior weapons in the passing game once again as well as a healthy DeMarco Murray at running back. Dallas' secondary looks formidable at the cornerback positions too, so America's Team is hoping to limit the versatile passers in their division.
In Houston, they've avoided major injuries for the most part with one exception, running back Arian Foster. Foster is the centerpiece of the Texans offense, having proven over several seasons to be an elite fit for their zone blocking scheme. Ben Tate is capable of filling in should Foster not be ready to go in Week 1, so it's safe to assume limited carries for Tate tonight and none for Foster.
Keeping Foster, wide receiver Andre Johnson, defensive end J.J. Watt, and quarterback Matt Schaub healthy are Houston's tickets to another AFC South title, don't expect to see much of those four in this game.
