Inter Milan will add a new key piece on Friday. The club hopes to wrap up the signing of Ivan Perisic after he was left out of the VfL Wolfsburg squad, per ESPN. The deal will see an initial payment of €8 million, followed by a further €10 million after Perisic makes 10 appearances for Milan.
Bonus payments could potentially see the deal rise to €20 million.
Admittedly, the news comes as a surprise.

Not two weeks ago, Wolfsburg sporting executive Klaus Allofs said Inter Milan couldn't afford Perisic, claiming nothing about the transfer fits his club's plans, per ESPN FC. Roberto Mancini refused to even acknowledge a potential deal in his Friday press conference.
"I haven't heard anything about Ivan Perisic," the Milan manager said, per Goal. "We only finished training a short while ago and nobody has told me anything. We should be concentrating on the game against Carpi.
"Unfortunately the transfer window is open until Monday and this can be annoying for a lot of clubs," he added. "We'll see if we get another player up front. We're working on it and there are a lot of cards on the table. It's difficult to say if anything will come through.
"Right now we just don't know what's going to happen."
Having lost Mateo Kovacic to Real Madrid, bolstering the attack was paramount for Inter to compete in Serie A. But Perisic's propensity to flourish on the wing will force Mancini to reconsider his 4-4-2 diamond.
Having a player play out of position is the first step toward disaster, something Mancini and Milan can ill-afford.
