Philadelphia Eagles Tim Tebow Rumors: Chip Kelly Should Pick Tebow Because He Is Good For America [VIDEO]

Could the battle between Tim Tebow and Matt Barkley for the No. 3 quarterback spot on the Eagles' roster come down to which QB is better for America? It might if Mike Ditka were the coach.

"If I was coaching today I would acquire Tim Tebow, too," said Ditka. "I'd find places to use him in certain situations on my football team. I think players like Tim Tebow are good for sports. They're good for football. They're good for our country."

Tim Tebow Stops Brawl Between Eagles and Ravens

This preseason Tebow's performance has been shaky. He pulled off a nice touchdown run in Week 1, but everyone already knew he could contribute on the ground. Tebow is a quarterback, and his passing is questionable to put it politely. So far that hasn't changed; Tebow is 8-of-17 in two games, and while he hasn't been picked off, he hasn't been accurate either. On top of that, he continues to take big sacks and fail to get rid of the ball in a timely fashion.

Barkley has been better with his arm, but not enough to distance himself from Tebow. In the same two games Barkley has gone 18-of-34 with an interception, and no touchdowns. It helps Barkley that Tebow hasn't even completed half of his attempts, but 53 percent with no scoring drives isn't going to open eyes.

Riley Cooper Praises Tebow's Improved Passing

Tebow's fan base is vocal about wanting him to play often, but Tebow himself refused to stir the pot when asked if he thinks he has to do more to beat out Barkley.

"That's not something I worry about to be honest,'' Tebow told NJ.com. "I worry about what I can control and that's come out and improve every day, enjoy the process, count your blessings and work extremely hard."

Don't let his humility fool you though. Tebow wants to make this team.

"You know something I always try to practice is be anxious for nothing, but let your request be known to God. That's how I try to handle that.''
