Aaron Hernandez Case: Former New England Patriots Tight End Due Back In Court Thursday For Probable Cause Hearing In Murder Of Odin Lloyd

Former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez is due back in court Thursday for a probable cause hearing, according to The Associated Press.

The hearing, which was scheduled for last month but was pushed back by the judge after prosecutors asked for more time to present evidence to a grand jury, will be focused on the evidence that prosecutors have gathered on Hernandez in his connection to the murder of Boston semi-professional football player Odin Lloyd.

Lloyd's body was found shot to death June 17th at an industrial park near Hernandez's North Attleborough home. Prosecutors believe that Hernandez orchestrated the slaying of Lloyd because he was mad at him for talking to people that Hernandez had problems with a few days earlier.

Some of the evidence that the prosecution may have gathered includes video footage of Hernandez and Lloyd allegedly arguing outside of a nightclub.

Hernandez, 23, was released from the Patriots on June 26, just nine days after Lloyd's body was found, due to his possible connection with the murder and the legal battle that was set to ensue.

While Hernandez has been under a lot of scrutiny over the past few months since the slaying, his lawyers have said that they are confident he will be exonerated of the charges and found innocent.

"A jury of his peers will find that he's not guilty and had no part in the killing of Odin Lloyd," defense attorney Charles Rankin told reporters last month.

Hernandez is still being held at a county jail without bail.
