The New England Patriots (1-0) will host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (0-1) tonight in Week 2 preseason action at Gillette Stadium at 8:00 p.m that can be live streamed by clicking this link. Patriots fans can follow the action on the radio by tuning in to 98.5 The Hub, while Bucs fans can listen in on WDAE 620.
The Patriots experienced the worst kind of scare this week in practice when living legend Tom Brady went down in a heap clutching his knee and reminding Pats fans of 2008 when he tore his anterior cruciate ligament in Week 1.
MRI's showed no structural damage however, and Brady is expected to suit up and play against the Bucs tonight. With Ryan Mallett having left the game against the Eagles with a head injury, Tim Tebow was nearly in line to start this week's game.
All eyes will likely be on Tebow once again this week, as he attempts to make the Patriots' roster as a third-string quarterback. Despite his position, Tebow's biggest weakness on the gridiron is accurately throwing the football. That was evidenced by his jittery 4-of-12 performance against Philadelphia in which he also took three sacks for a combined loss of 23 yards.
On the Bucs' end, fans will be checking out rookie quarterback Mike Glennon, who some believe has a puncher's chance of unseating Josh Freeman as Tampa Bay's starting quarterback. Despite having some previous success, Freeman's up-and-down performance in his career has frustrated the organization.
If he struggles early on, and Glennon impresses enough during these preseason opportunities, it's possible for Glennon to overtake Freman at some point in the season. That scenario is highly unlikely though. After trading for Darrelle Revis, the Bucs appear to be in win-now mode, which is rarely a good situation to throw a rookie passer in the mix.
