Tim Tebow looked awful in his New England Patriots debut against the Philadelphia Eagles, going 4-for-12 and racking up less than 60 yards through the air while taking three sacks. Still, he almost found himself in a position to possibly start a game this week.
Tom Brady gave all of New England a scare when he hurt his knee in practice yesterday and left the field. Brady has suffered a catastrophic knee injury before; in 2008 Brady has his leg rolled on in Week 1 and missed the whole season with torn ligaments.
This time Brady took a snap, dropped back and launched a pass before a swarm of battling linemen closed in on him. It is tough to see exactly what happened, but when the bodies separate Brady is on the ground clutching at his leg.

An MRI was quickly done by team doctors which revealed no structural damage; the Patriots believe it is simply a bruise and that he could be back practicing as early as today.
"He basically got kicked," a source said. "It isn't like his knee collapsed or somebody rolled up on him. Is there a chance he could be sore and they decide to hold him out of practice? Yeah. Could they decide he shouldn't play in the game? Probably. But they could also decide it's just soreness and he needs to work it out. It's really nothing."
If Brady is unable to go Friday against the Buccaneers in Week 2, or if New England just decides to play it safe, Tim Tebow could be in line to start. No. 2 quarterback Ryan Mallett left Week 1's game against Philadelphia with an apparent head injury and his status for Week 2 is uncertain.
If Tebow manages to get a start, or at least earn significant playing time and reps with the starters, he could cement his spot on the roster for the upcoming season, or convince Patriots' coaches that he's unfit for the team.
Either way Week 2 should be another interesting one in a topsy-turvy buildup to 2013 for New England.
