There is reportedly an internal struggle within the WWE over how to use its Divas.

According to Wrestlingheadlines.com, Triple H and Stephanie McMahon are looking to portray the ladies of the WWE in a better light while Vince McMahon appears to be stubborn on that front and wants to keep things the way they are.
Per the report, Triple H and Stephanie's newfound goal to feature the Divas more prominently and in a different light in the WWE stems from Stephanie's backstage influence as well as the success that the UFC has had with Ronda Rousey.

"The Game" and his wife aren't necessarily fans of UFC, but the two are said to be huge supporters of "Rowdy" and saw her recent Sports Illustrated cover as a sign that times are changing and the WWE should adapt with its Divas.
While Triple H and Stephanie have viewed the change in times as a different era and are looking to give the Divas a more crucial role within the WWE, The Wrestling Observer reports that Vince is unbending in this regard and still believes the current use of women on television is the way things should stay.
The WWE brought Rousey into the fold in a shocking moment at WrestleMania 31 at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif. on March 29.
The reigning UFC Women's Bantamweight champion got into a verbal and physical altercation with Triple H and Stephanie while being supported by wrestling legend-turned-movie star Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.
The company was hopeful to bring Rousey in for another storyline, but UFC president Dana White insisted that her appearance at WrestleMania was a one-off deal.
The WWE was said to be surprised by this, but Stephanie said on Chris Jericho's podcast on the WWE Network that nothing is imminent between the two sides.
Rousey has vowed to return to the squared circle, but admitted that her schedule is busy for quite some time.
The WWE has taken strides to make Divas matches and storylines matter more by giving them more ring time and bigger storylines, in the wake of the #GiveDivasAChance hashtag trending earlier this year.
Still, there are many inconsistencies in the division as The Bella Twins spent months building themselves into the top heels in the WWE's ladies sect, only to turn face with no real background story due to a shortage of "good" Divas in the wake of AJ Lee's retirement and Paige taking a hiatus to film a movie.
It will be interesting to see how the Divas are portrayed from here on out as the reported backstage struggle continues.
