One dubious instant replay ruling from the referees notwithstanding, most college basketball fans believe the Duke Blue Devils won Monday night’s national championship fair and square.
Some, like United States Senator Claire McCaskill (D-Missouri), however, have bristled at the team’s roster composition.
The Dookies got significant contributions from a corps of freshmen, including Justise Winslow, Grayson Allen, Tyus Jones, and Jahlil Okafor.
Multiple names amongst that group are players predicted to enter this off-season’s NBA Draft. McCaskill took to her Twitter account to decry the nature of one-and-done players in NCAA basketball.
Congrats to Duke, but I was rooting for team who had stars that are actually going to college & not just doing semester tryout for NBA.

I see I have stirred things up. Sorry, but I'm sad about the one & done thing.I understand why it's happening, but I don't have to like it. — Claire McCaskill (@clairecmc) April 7, 2015
.@kaylajsmom Well of course, it's not the kids' fault. That is the current NCAA/NBA system, which I think is wrong on many levels.

To be clear folks, this isn't about the kids, this is about the system. This is about the NCAA/NBA.I don't blame the very talented athletes. — Claire McCaskill (@clairecmc) April 7, 2015
