Tony Stewart Update: 'Smoke' Uses Pig Therapy as Comfort for Disappointing Daytona 500 [VIDEO]

NASCAR enthusiasts often have accused Tony Stewart to be set in his pig-headed ways. Over the weekend, he offered the proof.

SI.com's Extra Mustard posted a photo from Stewart's Twitter account following his disappointing, 42nd-place finish in the Daytona 500 on Sunday, marking his 17th straight year without a victory in the race.

Black-flagged Tony Stewart swears at Daytona 500 practice officials

While he was bummed about his crash on lap 42 that damaged his car enough that he went only 30 more before calling it quits, Stewart talked about the "little boy" that was happy to have "his dad" home after 2 ½ weeks away.

The name of Stewart's pet pig is "Porkchop," and the animal has appeared in a few other photos on Stewart's Twitter account.

Tony Stewart says luck a bigger factor than skill at the Daytona 500

Reuniting with "Porkchop" may not have put Stewart in hog heaven, but he did seem at piece with his accident in NASCAR's most celebrated race.

Stewart hit the wall on the fourth turn of lap 42 and damaged the car's steering mechanism, USA TODAY Sports reported.

"That particular lap it got away from me, and I got out of the gas and couldn't even get the front end caught up when I got out of the gas," Stewart said. "I'm not sure if Ryan (Blaney) wasn't there, I still was going to hit the fence.

"We stuck with the plan from the start of the race, and that was to stay up front as much as we could," he said, according to USA TODAY Sports. "We knew the first two runs of the race we were probably going to have to adjust on the car. I just didn't make it far enough into the second run there to get a chance to adjust on it."

He returned to the track but only after he had lost dozens of laps to his competitors. After lap 72, Stewart decided to park the car for good.

And find comfort in the arms of Porkchop.
