Michael Jackson, the beloved "King of Pop" whose sexuality was often questioned, has now been linked to Scott Thorson, the lover of Liberace, by Thorson himself.
"Liberace introduced me and Michael in the late 1970s. It was right around the time 'Thriller' was coming out, and Michael and I became lovers," Thorson told The Sun. "Our relationship went on for six or seven years. Michael was very generous, too. He treated me well. Liberace and I had both undergone surgery around the same time Michael underwent a nose job because he didn't think he was handsome. We all healed together at the Liberace compound in Palm Springs."
Thorson, who was recently played by Matt Damon in HBO's Behind the Candelabra, has had an interesting existence. In addition to being romantically involved with Liberace, he was placed into witness protection after providing testimony against a drug kingpin named Eddie Nash in 1981.
In 1991, Thorson was shot five times during a robbery but survived the ordeal. The first made noise about carrying on a relationship with Jackson in 2004, according to reports. At the time Jackson's legal team shot that down, calling it "false trash."
Jackson's lawyer at the time, Steve Cochran said, "We reserve our right to see the appropriate remedies against any person who makes this claim."
Thorson, in prison for burglary at the time of Behind the Candelabra's airing, said he did not receive much in the way of compensation with regards to the movie.
"Matt Damon or Michael Douglas would not bail me out, even though I offered to talk to them about the film. Hollywood turned its back on me. I need to put money back into my pocket. I didn't make much out of the movie. I own a small percentage of the film, but Hollywood is notorious for padding the bill so it shows no profit."
