Ilya Bryzgalov Ducks Rumors: Goaltender Agrees To Tryout With Anaheim, Could Follow Martin Brodeur's Footsteps With Blues [VIDEO]

Veteran goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov and the Anaheim Ducks have agreed to a tryout agreement that may end up seeing him sign a contract with the team.

Martin Brodeur Agrees To One-Year Deal With Blues

According to ESPN Los Angeles, the two sides have come to an accord that will see Bryzgalov tryout for the team in a move that could see the animated netminder ink a deal with the Anaheim franchise.

Bryzgalov, 34, came into the 2014-15 campaign as an unrestricted free agent after spending last season with the Minnesota Wild. Bryzgalov went 12-9-8 with a 2.68 goals-against average and a .909 save percentage with Minnesota last season.

Scott Gomez Returns To The Devils With New Contract

Bryzgalov could follow in the footsteps of future Hall of Fame goalie Martin Brodeur, who tried out with the St. Louis Blues for almost a week and ended up signing a one-year deal with the team Tuesday.

Brodeur's first game for the Blues will be the first time in his career he dons a uniform that won't have the New Jersey Devils crest on it.

Bryzgalov, a Russian native, was originally selected by the Ducks in the second round (44th) overall of the 2000 NHL Draft. Bryzgalov played for Anaheim from 2001-07 and was placed on waivers after the team won the Stanley Cup with him on the bench.

Bryzgalov has since played for the Phoenix Coyotes, Philadelphia Flyers, Edmonton Oilers and Wild.

The Ducks are currently 15-6-5, (35 points) on the season and sit in second place in the Pacific Division. Anaheim currently has Frederik Andersen as its No. 1 goalie, but their backup situation is tricky with John Gibson and Jason LaBarbera on injured reserve.

Bryzgalov, a three-time Olympian and two-time All-Star, is 220-158-53 in 457 NHL games in his career with a 2.56 GAA and a .913 save percentage through 13 years.
