Arsenal Transfer News: Sami Khedira Will Be Handed £100,000 Per Week After January Transfer from Real Madrid

Desperate for consistency in the defensive midfield, Arsenal are prepared to open the checkbook come January. According to various sources (via Goal Transfer Talk), the Gunners are willing to hand Real Madrid's Sami Khedira £100,000 per week should he decide to depart the Santiago Bernabeu.

The 27-year-old is currently on £75,000 a week in the Spanish capital, this despite seeing minimal playing time. A move to the Emirates would serve as a downgrade in prestige, but Khedira would benefit from an increase in salary and minutes. Arsenal would benefit even more.

The club's 2-1 defeat to Chelsea at the weekend once again highlighted its deficiencies, especially against England's elite. Frustration is abound in London, so much so that Arsene Wenger's manifested itself on the sideline. The Frenchman engaged in an awkward confrontation with Jose Mourinho following a challenge from Gary Cahill on Alexis Sanchez. The two were shortly separated by the fourth official.

Wenger showed zero remorse for his actions.

"What is to regret after that? I wanted to go from A to B and somebody confronted me without any sign of welcome," he said (via BBC). "B was get to Sanchez to see if he was injured. Was it a push? A little one. You can see when I really try to push."

"It becomes heated because this is a big game, big clubs, big rivals, and important match for both teams," Wenger added. "These conditions make a game of emotions. I do so many wrong things in football, but not this time because this time I was just in my technical area and it was not my problem."

"Game over. Story over."

Arsenal's title hopes will be over without proper reinforcements in January. With an average of 0.7 challenges lost per match since 2009, Khedira would be just that.
