A torn anterior cruciate ligament prevented Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Sidney Rice from playing in the franchise's first Super Bowl win in February.

Concussions will prevent Rice of ever playing again for the Seahawks, or any other team for that matter.
USA TODAY Sports is reporting that Rice, a seven-year NFL veteran, is calling it a career, announcing through the Seahawks that he will not report for the Seahawks training camp on the eve of its start.
A person close to Rice who asked to remain anonymous, told USA Today Sports, that the 27-year-old is leaving over concerns about multiple concussions.
Russell Wilson labeled a mediocre quarterback by former NFL GM
He suffered two concussions in consecutive weeks in 2011 and ended the season on injured reserve. Last season, he tore his ACL in an Oct. 28 win over the St. Louis Rams but also suffered a concussion in that game.
"I was just thinking about things I've been through in the last few years," Rice told the team's website, which didn't specifically mention concussions, USA TODAY reported. "I've hit the ground a number of times. I have quite a few injuries. It's something I've always battled through and came back from."
Rice played four years with the Minnesota Vikings before moving on to the Seahawks in 2011. He enjoyed the best season of his career in 2009 with the Vikings when he caught 83 passes for 1,312 yards and eight touchdowns.
He earned a Pro Bowl invitation that season.
Rice played 33 games with Seattle, finishing with 97 catches for 1,463 yards and 12 TDs in three seasons.
The Seahawks released Rice in late February with two years left on a five-year deal with $18.5 million. They re-signed him in April to a one-year deal worth $1.4 million.
