WWE Diva A.J. Lee returned to television for the first time in three months on Monday Night RAW, but one person who hasn't been seen much in 2014 is her husband CM Punk, who quit the company in January and is showing no signs of returning before his deal expires later this month.
WWE Diva Emma Arrested For Larceny
Lee took time off after WrestleMania XXX, losing her WWE Divas Championship to Paige the very next night on the April 7 edition of RAW, so that she could move to Chicago with Punk after the two got engaged.
Lee was absent from the WWE for three months as her and Punk tied the knot in June and there was a lot of speculation about when she'd return and her absence from the company led to pregnancy rumors. Those rumors were quashed when Lee returned to the squared circle Monday night and reclaimed the Divas Championship from Paige in an impromptu match.
Four Huge Matches Planned For WWE SummerSlam
Now that Lee is back, many fans are wondering whether or not Punk will return, as he stormed out on the company prior to a live RAW telecast on the night after the Royal Rumble in January due to being burned out and unhappy with the way he was being booked.
Wrestlingheadlines.com reports that Punk's contract is set to expire in the middle of this month, sometime around July 17. It's unknown if the WWE will make an official announcement about his status at that time as they have brought him up at times in storylines but have never officially made an announcement about his status.
Punk has seemed to enjoy his time off by attending Chicago Blackhawks and Cubs games and he was referred to as a "retired wrestler" by one of his friends, but after over five months away from the squared circle, it is possible that he could work something out with the WWE to come back, though it is uncertain if he'd actually want to do that.
The company was trying hard to get him back into the fold initially after he walked out, but then after he missed the RAW episode from Chicago in March and didn't attend WrestleMania XXX in April, it became doubtful that he'd return. The WWE has taken jabs at him on his company Facebook by posting videos of wrestlers who "threw in the towel" as a reference to him quitting.
With his spouse Lee back in the fold, it will be interesting to see if the "Best in the World" steps foot in a WWE ring and if the company will acknowledge his contract running out later this month.
