This Sunday night, the WWE presents Money in the Bank live from the TD Garden in Boston in what has become one of the most exciting events of the year.

The Money in the Bank Ladder Match has been a spring board to success in many WWE Superstars' careers throughout the years. What started as an annual WrestleMania staple has spawned off into its own pay-per-view franchise and has provided some memorable moments as Superstars put their bodies on the line all for the chance to win a contract good enough for a WWE Championship shot within the next year.
This year is a little different as there will be two Money in the Bank Ladder Matches as eight Superstars vie for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship while seven others go head-to-head for the briefcase containing a contract for a title shot in the next year.

Over the years there have been many great winners that went on to achieve a lot of success in the WWE ranks following their wins, and here is a look at the Top 5 Money in the Bank Ladder Match winners of all-time in order of when they occurred.
5) 2005-Edge Wins The Inaugural Match at WrestleMania 21:
WWE Hall of Famer Edge may have never earned that accolade had he not won the inaugural Money in the Bank Ladder Match that eventually led to his first ever WWE Championship. Edge outlasted Chris Jericho, Shelton Benjamin, Kane, Christian and Chris Benoit in a memorable and physical match to win the title and ignite a tradition in the WWE. He would go on to defeat a prone John Cena at New Year's Revolution for his first main event title. Edge went on to win the WWE Championship four times and the World Heavyweight Championship seven times in his career.
4) 2006-Rob Van Dam Becomes 'Mr. Money in the Bank' at WrestleMania 22:
The second Money in the Bank Ladder Match was as epic as the first, with RVD defeating Matt Hardy, Shelton Benjamin, Ric Flair, Finlay and Bobby Lashley to win the briefcase. RVD would go on to become the first man to state when and where he wanted to cash in and the first MITB winner to win the WWE Championship despite giving his opponent prior notice. RVD defeated John Cena at One Night Stand in June 2006 to become the first man to ever hold the WWE and ECW Championships. It marked the only time in his career RVD won the WWE Championship.
3) 2008 and 2009-CM Punk Repeats As Winner:
CM Punk became the first man to win the Money in the Bank Ladder Match twice and in two consecutive years at WrestleMania XXIV and XXV. Punk defeated Mr. Kennedy, Chris Jericho, Shelton Benjamin, Carlito, John Morrison and MVP in 2008 and Christian, Shelton Benjamin, Kane, Finlay, Montel Vontavious Porter, Kofi Kingston and Mark Henry in 2009.
Punk cashed in and defeated Edge for the World Heavyweight Championship in 2008 and then turned in his contract and defeated Jeff Hardy for that same title in 2009. Punk, who quit the WWE in January, finished his career as a three-time World Heavyweight Champion and two-time WWE Champion after his career was spring-boarded by consecutive Money in the Bank wins.
2) 2011-Daniel Bryan Enters Main Event Scene:
Daniel Bryan ascended from the midcard to the main event picture after winning the Ladder Match in 2011 by defeating Wade Barrett, Kane, Cody Rhodes, Sheamus, Sin Cara, Justin Gabriel and Heath Slater. Bryan would later go on to win his first World Heavyweight Championship that December by defeating The Big Show for the gold. Bryan, who used that win to springboard into three WWE Championship reigns through the years, recently won his biggest championship in the main event of WrestleMania XXX but had to forfeit the gold due to a neck injury.
1) 2012-John Cena Pads His Resume By Winning Briefcase:
While Cena is a polarizing figure, it is important to note that he is a Money in the Bank winner as he's done all you pretty much can do in the WWE. With multiple title reigns and Royal Rumble match wins, Cena had to get one MITB briefcase under his belt to add to his future Hall of Fame resume. Cena defeated Chris Jericho, The Miz, Kane and The Big Show in the match but was unsuccessful in his attempt to win the WWE Championship against CM Punk, becoming the first man to not win a title after earning the briefcase. Don't feel too bad for Cena though, he is an 11-time WWE Champion and three-time World Heavyweight Champion.
This Sunday at Money in the Bank, two more Superstars will join the 13 other WWE Superstars who have won a Money in the Bank Ladder match and it will be interesting to see where those wins will rank on the all-time list after the smoke clears at the TD Garden in Boston.
