Clint Dempsey Next Cristiano Ronaldo or Eminem? Dempsey Releases Rap Single, Album To Follow [VIDEO]

Before the start of the World Cup, U.S. men's national team captain Clint Dempsey channeled his inner Eminem rather than his inner Cristiano Ronaldo.

Kobe Bryant thinks U.S. men's soccer national team coach Jurgen Klinsmann's comments about him are comical, but the joke is on the Black Mamba.

With his popularity at an all-time high after his 30th-second goal against Ghana in the United States' first World Cup game, why not show the world whether he's on his way to becoming the next Eminem?

The Wall Street Journal posted a track from Dempsey, who's rapper moniker is "Deuce" from his upcoming album, "The Redux." The track is called, "It's Poppin" and was released Wednesday morning at Deuceandxo.com.

Deuce is scheduled to release "The Redux" with his friend, rapper XO, after the World Cup is finished. The Wall Street Journal reported that Dempsey spent two weeks in Los Angeles recording the 13-track album in the offseason.

The report adds that Deuce raps about his rags-to-riches story, "banging G's" (translation - "scoring goals") and being "Captain America."

"We just were having fun with it and it ended up being an album," Dempsey said, according to the WSJ.

The Wall Street Journal reported that Dempsey has a serious interest in becoming a recording artist. But he kept the album a secret to avoid any criticism that his focus wasn't entirely on soccer, his friends told the WSJ.

He didn't even mention the album in an interview with Rolling Stone last week.

Dempsey released another track in 2006 for Nike titled, "Don't Tread."

Dempsey scored the fifth fastest goal in World Cup history and the fastest goal in U.S. World Cup history, but there is a discrepancy as to when the goal actually was scored. Reports range from the 29th second to the 34th second, as the Wall Street Journal reported.

Should the U.S. make a deep run into the tournament, Dempsey's sales should get a big boost.
