Tonight at 7:10 p.m. ET, the San Diego Padres (28-38) and New York Mets (29-37) clash at Citi Field for the opening contest of a three-game set. The game can be live streamed for free here. San Diego fans can hear all of the action on XPRS 1090 while New York fans can do the same on WOR 710.
San Diego continues an eight-game road trip that it is 0-3 on and will look to avoid a dropping a fourth straight contest while New York continues its six-game homestand after dropping two of three to the Milwaukee Brewers to start it off.
Andrew Cashner (2-5, 2.13 ERA) toes the rubber for the Padres while the Mets counter with Bartolo Colon, who is 5-5 with a 4.31 ERA.
New York moved second baseman Daniel Murphy to the top of the batting order on Thursday night. Murphy is on a six-game hitting streak and ranks second in the National League with 82 hits.
"[Murphy] will always be a good hitter," said Mets manager Terry Collins via MLB.com. "Plate discipline has allowed him to be very dangerous. Because he's getting base on balls I think pitchers are realizing they've got to come on the plate more and I think he's doing more damage because of that. Why wouldn't you want your hottest up there as many times as you can get him up?"
Murphy is hitting a team-best .303 this season with five homers and 25 RBIs.
Mets third baseman David Wright is hitting .270 and leads the team in RBIs with 32 while first baseman Lucas Duda and outfielder Curtis Granderson are tied for the team lead with eight homers apiece.
Padres outfielder Seth Smith leads the team with a .294 average and is in a tie for first in homers (six) while second baseman Jedd Gyorko ranks atop San Diego's lineup with 24 RBIs.
The Mets and Padres open up a three-game set tonight at Citi Field in New York.
