Tonight at 7:00 p.m. ET the No. 1 UConn women (30-0, 17-0 AAC) will take on the No. 3 Lousiville women (28-2, 16-1 AAC) in a rematch of the top two American Athletic Conference teams on ESPN2. The game can be live streamed here for free; UConn fans can listen to the game on WTIC 1080 while Cardinals fans can find the radio broadcast on WKRD 790 AM.
The lady Huskies remained atop the polls after two drubbings last week of SMU (81-41) and Rutgers (72-35). The UConn women have won 36 straight games dating back to last season, and took care of Louisville soundly in their first meeting by a score of 81-64.
Breanna Stewart has served as the Huskies' catalyst, leading the team with 19.4 points per game and turning in 8.1 boards a night, second only to Stefanie Dolson. In the first meeting of these two teams Stewart went off, dropping 24 points and 10 rebounds on the Cardinals while also notching six assists.
"She scores them exactly when you need them," UConn coach Geno Auriemma said after the big win. "Every one of her points seems to mean something. She hits three-run homers when we're down two and that's what separates her from everybody else." In addition to routinely filling up all the columns on the stat sheet, she's making shots at a 50.2 percent clip.
"She's a special player," Louisville coach Jeff Walz said. "I told our players there's no question she's the best player in the country in my opinion. When you have breakdowns she makes you pay for them.
Schoni Schimmel leads the way for the Cards, with 17.2 points per game and 4.5 boards, but she doesn't score nearly as efficiently as Stewart. Asia Taylor will need to make an impact as well, as she leads Louisville with 7.2 rebounds a night to go with a tad over 11 points.
