Former Missouri defensive lineman Michael Sam is trying not to let anything distract him from his pursuit of an NFL career as the NFL Draft is just a few months away, but thanks to the internet Sam is entrenched in rumors that a naked "selfie" that has surfaced online with an in-shape person blocking their face with an I-Pad is a picture of him.
According to TMZ, Sam's agent said in a statement that the nude "selfie" isn't Sam and that the openly gay athlete is just looking ahead to the NFL Draft, not taking pictures of himself nude.
For what it's worth, the picture can be viewed here.
According to the report, the picture has exploded on the internet after first being posted on the Grindr app and rumors have flown around that it is in fact the NFL Draft prospect.
Sam's agent has denied it being him.
"The picture is not Mike," Sam's agent Cameron Weiss told TMZ Sports. "It could be anyone. There's no face."
Weiss emphasized the fact that Sam is looking towards pursuing his dream of landing with an NFL team in May and that it is not his client in the picture.
"Michael has a few weeks to fine tune some things before his Pro Day," Weiss said, according to TMZ Sports. "He'll be ready."
Sam played at Missouri for four years and recorded 111 tackles while adding 18.5 sacks, five forced fumbles and two interceptions.
If Sam makes it to the NFL, he'll become the first openly gay player to hit the gridiron.
According to Weiss, Sam is focused on his dream, not taking naked selfies and sending the internet buzzing.
