AJ Styles took to X (formerly Twitter) to share his two cents on the selection of Brian "Road Dogg" James as the new co-lead writer for WWE's SmackDown brand.

This means that James is partnering with John Swikata to work on the creative for the blue brand.

Many fans, however, are not happy about the choice, and this has led to Styles sharing his opinion on social media.

Fans Criticize Road Dogg

Criticism towards James involves previous booking he did for WWE, according to WWF Old School.

One tweet on X said, "He ruined SmackDown."

"D-Generation X took over WWE. Shawn Michaels in NXT, Triple H for WWE in a whole, and Road Dogg for SmackDown," another tweet said. "X-Pac for RAW? Lol."

Yet another tweet said, "Brian 'wins and losses don't matter' James? Leading writing for SmackDown in an era where three of its main ongoing stories are in fact about winning enough to go for a championship??"

What AJ Styles Has to Say

"Before judging this guy from his past performance as the head writer," Styles said on X. "Just know that there was a man who picked it apart to the point that it was no longer his ideas anymore."

Many replies to his post spoke in agreement with what he had to say.

"No Vince = freedom for a WHOLE lot of other people's good ideas to come to light," one reply said.

"Yeah people forget dogg had to answer to someone that threw out everything," another reply pointed out.
