Last week, an NFL trade rumor surrounding Tyreek Hill appeared from the sidelines. While this is a possible scenario on the horizon, another trade rumor arises, involving cornerback Jalen Ramsey.
According to the latest report, the Miami Dolphins and the 30-year-old football player are "mutually set to explore trade options." The potential split could mean that Ramsey wants to see a fresh start in other teams next season.
Ramsey and Dolphis Could Agree in Upcoming Trade Deal
As reported by Ian Rapoport of NFL Media on Tuesday, April 15, the Dolphins are open to trading Ramsey. The closest thing to land the young CB is the New England Patriots.
The #Dolphins and seven-time Pro Bowl CB Jalen Ramsey are mutually set to explore trade options and it wouldn't be a surprise if he played elsewhere in 2025, per me and @TomPelissero.

Ramsey, a seven-time Pro Bowl pick and generally considered to be among the league's top defensive backs, will make $25.1 million this year. With such a high cap hit and Miami seeking to maximize its roster, letting go of the veteran corner could be a win-win for both parties, competitively and financially.
Are the Dolphins Parting Ways With Ramsey Because of Money?
Miami's consideration to move Ramsey isn't solely about money. With the team eyeing long-term flexibility and emerging stars ready to take on bigger roles, parting ways with a high-salaried veteran could be part of a broader strategy, NESN reports.
Ramsey, while still an elite defender, missed a portion of last season due to injury and is no longer untouchable in the team's plans.
The Dolphins are also being prudent in the financial realm, setting themselves up for potential extensions of vital offensive contributors down the line. Parting with Ramsey would not only free a nice slice of salary cap room but could also bring back draft assets to bolster depth in general.
Patriots could use Ramsey's talent, but with Josh McDaniels' return as offensive coordinator and the ongoing development of young quarterback Drake Maye, the playbook could switch to an offensive tactic.
Would Jalen Ramsey Find a Home in New England?
Though Patriots supporters may fantasize about Jalen Ramsey aligning with All-Pro corner Christian Gonzalez and recent free-agent signee Carlton Davis III, it's not going to happen.
Miami won't fortify a direct rival, particularly one that's in the same division. New England has a loaded secondary and would have to overcome both financial and tactical obstacles to make such a trade possible.
Instead, the hope is that if Ramsey is traded, it will be to an NFC team, well out of the Dolphins' immediate playoff path.
Best Fit for Ramsey? NFC Teams Lead the Pack
The most reasonable landing places for Jalen Ramsey probably lie beyond the AFC. NFC franchises that need veteran presence and defensive lockdown skills may become suitors.
Contenders like the Detroit Lions, Dallas Cowboys, or even the San Francisco 49ers may consider the possibility if the cost is reasonable.
A clean slate on a playoff-contending NFC team would enable Ramsey to keep playing at a high clip while also sparing him the embarrassment of playing his old team several times a year.
