Red Bull driver Max Verstappen cleared the air regarding his future in Formula 1.

The reigning three-time world champion, linked to a move to Mercedes in 2025, appears to have ruled out a transfer to the Brackley-based outfit when asked if he would remain with Red Bull next season.

"Yes, we're already also working on next year's car. When you're very focused on that, that means that you're also driving for the team," the Dutchman said during a press conference ahead of the Austrian Grand Prix.

Despite his contract with Red Bull lasting until the end of 2028, Mercedes has reportedly tried to lure Verstappen with a staggering $160 million yearly salary.

Verstappen also ruled out a move even if Red Bull were to experience a future performance drop.

"I don't think that's how Formula One works, where then suddenly you could say, well, bye, guys. You know, it's not how it works. I have a long contract with the team. I'm very happy where I'm at," he assured.

Verstappen acknowledges threat from rival team

For the first time in two years, Red Bull does not have the clear-cut best car on the grid, as McLaren's MCL38 has managed to catch up by going toe-to-toe with the RB20.

"At the moment, of course, it's very tight, but we are working very well as a team to try and improve more," Verstappen admitted.

Since claiming his first career win at the Miami Grand Prix, Lando Norris has finished in second place in all subsequent races except in Monaco, where he placed fourth. The British driver also claimed pole position in the recent Spanish Grand Prix.
