Former NBA star Blake Griffin has announced his retirement from basketball after not signing with a team all season.
The explosive power forward revealed his decision in a heartfelt letter posted on the social media platform X, formerly Twitter, on Tuesday, April 17.
"I'm thankful for every single moment-not just the good ones: the wins, the awards, the dunks, and the memorable times spent with family, friends, fans, teammates, and coaches," the 35-year-old said.

Griffin was drafted as the first overall pick in the 2009 NBA Draft. He began his professional basketball career with the Los Angeles Clippers and spent nine years with the franchise, including most of his prime.
Griffin's last appearance in the league was with the Boston Celtics during the 2022-23 season. He joined the team under a one-year contract, opting for the veteran's minimum salary.
The six-time NBA All-Star has made a total of $261,338,564 in NBA salary for his whole career, per HoopsHype.

The 25-year-old also urged Griffin to enjoy retirement.
