Buffalo Bills are in the process of finalizing a trade that will send star wide receiver Stefon Diggs to the Houston Texans, per Adam Schefter.

The Bills are said to receive a 2025 second-round pick (from the Minnesota Vikings) in exchange for Stefon Diggs, a 2024 sixth-round pick, and a 2025 fifth-round pick. The primary goal for Buffalo was to move on from Diggs, avoiding paying his WR1 salary and committing to his contract extension into 2026.

Much speculation has been circulating around Stefon Diggs remaining in Buffalo. Diggs may have broken the 1,000 yard marker in each of his four seasons with the Bills; but there was an evident dropoff in his production throughout his time in Buffalo, especially in the 2023 NFL season.

Stefon Diggs' Impact on Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills

Many could attribute the development of Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen to the trade that originally acquired Stefon Diggs from the Minnesota Vikings back in 2020. Allen saw an elite jump in production, and with Diggs as his primary target, set himself as a top-tier quarterback in the NFL.

Soon after a time of offensive prosperity for the Buffalo Bills, we have seen a slow regression in production and souring relations between Josh Allen and Stefon Diggs. In the 2023 NFL season, we saw Josh Allen find more comfort in targeting other receivers such as Khalil Shakir or Gabe Davis.

Stefon Diggs Resurgence With C.J. Stroud and the Houston Texans

But now we could see Stefon Diggs aid in the development of another youthful quarterback in Houston Texans' C.J. Stroud. The only difference is that C.J. Stroud handled himself extremely well in his NFL rookie campaign. If Stefon Diggs could find his stride once again with the Texans, we could then see C.J. Stroud take another colossal leap in his play in 2024; which was already in the upper category of quarterback play to begin with.
