Conor McGregor was thrown a bait, and he took it.

Justin Gaethje shaded the Irish fighter shortly after his victory over Dustin Poirier at UFC 291 about his alleged dope use.

McGregor responded by guaranteeing a knockout in a fight yet to be confirmed.

The American saw the tweet after two days and only had five words as a response.

"Sign the contract big boy," he wrote.

McGregor's initial response stems from Gaethje's rant. He said he only fights someone who is not on steroids.

"I like to fight big fights, so it sounds pretty exciting to me," he said over the weekend.

"I'm not gonna fight someone on steroids," said Gaethje. "I've never taken steroids in my life, never will ... and I don't want to fight someone that's cheating. And I probably shouldn't say that if I want the fight, but it's the truth."

Conor appeared dismissive of Gaethje, initially saying he is the one who calls the shots.

"I'm the real BMF he can fight for pennies if he wants, but I want spirits; I call the shots, I'm in it to launch shots; f*** Chandler, you want it, call for it."

Who is Gaethje fighting next?

Right now, a Justin Gaethje-Conor McGregor fight remains to be confirmed. The current BMF champion's next opponent is still being decided, but some names are already being floated.

He is projected to do another title bout, and Bet MGM is predicting him to go against the winner of the fight between lightweight champion Islam Makhachev and former title holder Charles Oliveira.
