Aaron Rodgers was signed by the New York Jets to make the team better, obviously.
However, he can only do that if the players he is surrounded with keep up with his vision and passing game.
Jets offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett specifically pointed to the team's wide receivers saying they have to keep their eyes peeled with Rodgers on the pitch, given how great Rodgers is as a quarterback.
Hackett said the training camp includes teaching the wideouts how to read signals made by the four-time MVP in case he decided on the fly to change the strategy.
Rodgers is regarded as one of, if not the most accurate, in the history of the NFL.
He is renowned for his footwork and quick thinking outside the pocket. His 4.52 touchdown-to-interception ratio is the best in the league. He also recorded the league's lowest career interception percentage at 1.4%.
Rodgers being hands-on teaching signals
Rodgers is instantly the team leader, and he is taking that role to heart.
Quarterbacks coach Rob Calabrese is in the front seat of this mentor side of Rodgers.
"He's a great communicator and he's a great teacher," Calabrese said.
"When he's talking with the receivers or tight ends on how he wants certain routes just from experience, it's special."
The ability to lead is what many critics questioned about Rodgers coming into the season.
Rodgers is changing opinions about him in that department each week. He and the Jets will see their first action together on August 4 against the Cleveland Browns for a pre-season match-up.
