The Pittsburgh Steelers could still beef up their roster in the coming season especially in the quarterback position. Even though they have re-signed backup QB Landry Jones to contract, reports are saying that they should still consider of bringing in Colin Kaepernick as another backup for quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.

The Pittsburgh Steelers made a great run last season as they were able to clinch the third seed in the AFC division by virtue of an 11-5 win-loss record. They were able to hurdle pass the Miami Dolphins in the wildcard playoffs and Kansas City Chiefs in the divisional playoffs. But unfortunately, they were denied for another run to the Super Bowl title after they were ousted by the eventual champion New England Patriots in the AFC Championship.

Though disappointed, they still have a chance to make up next season as they are looking to reinforce their lineup. Recent reports are saying that they are renewing again their interest to Colin Kaepernick as an ideal backup for Ben Roethlisberger.

Last week, FanRag Sports already reported the intention of the Pittsburgh Steelers to bring in Colin Kaepernick on their fold after Steelers QB backup Landry Jones is still unsigned by the team. Kaepernick, who opts out with the San Francisco 49ers also last week, is the best available free agent quarterback in the market.

However, the Pittsburgh Steelers decides to re-sign Landry Jones in a two-year deal halting the move of acquiring Colin Kaepernick. But now, some think that the Steelers should reconsider their plan last week of getting Kaepernick as preparation for their future.

And why not? Ben Roethlisberger is not getting younger as he turned 35 last March 2 leaving the Pittsburgh Steelers without a veteran shot caller on the lineup. Both Landry Jones and Zachary Mettenberger only have two years experience in the league making it hard to depend on them. And getting Colin Kaepernick would make sense.

But getting Colin Kaepernick could be expensive for the Pittsburgh Steelers. According to 247Sports, Kaepernick's value could hit around $14 million a year that might very costly for the Steelers. Kaepernick's value is reasonable but if he is willing to take a cut and play for a contender team like the Steelers there's a way to work things out.

Will the Pittsburgh Steelers and Colin Kaepernick be able to reach an agreement?
