Dirk Nowitzki will be returning next season for his 20th season in the league. Though in contract with the Dallas Mavericks, should Nowitzki consider moving on and chase his second ring with a different NBA team?

In an interview on TrueHoop Conversations podcast with ESPN's Marc Stein, Dirk Nowitzki revealed that he will be coming back next season to play his 20th season in the league. He also said that he is hoping to have a decent and injury free NBA season the next time around.

Dirk Nowitzki's contract next season is with a team option that will certainly be picked up by the Dallas Mavericks once the future Hall of Famer decides to play. According to NBCsports, Mavs' owner will bot blink to pick up Dirk's $25million contract for next season.

Though Dirk is aiming to achieve what Kobe Bryant has achieved and stay in one team in 20 seasons of play, the German 7 footer may still want to consider playing for a contender. Dirk Nowitzki, for the longest part of his career, has single-handedly carried the Dallas Mavericks franchise and has given the team a Larry O'Brien trophy.

Though Dirk Nowitzki joining another team will be a long shot, the Dallas fans cannot blame Dirk if he in deed chooses to play for a team who has championship hopes next season. With the current roster that the Dallas Mavericks has, making the NBA finals and moving past the Rockets, Clippers, Spurs and the Golden State Warriors in the tight Western Conference NBA Playoff race is highly improbable.

With his length and still reliable shooting stroke, Dirk Nowitzki will fit any NBA system. Also, with the NBA's current preference of stretch fours, Dirk will still be able to provide quality minutes as a starter or even a huge boost coming off the bench.

Seeing Dirk Nowtizki in another NBA team's uniform is highly impossible. But the Dallas Mavericks organization and fans may just let Dirk chase his second ring for his final NBA season.
