Former New York Knicks guard Brandon Jennings is headed to the Washington Wizards. The Jennings Wizards deal surfaced after reports that the guard and the Knicks have agreed to a contract buyout.

The move to waive Brandon Jennings is reportedly a roster clearing move for the Knicks to clear a spot for guard Chasson Randle. According to Yahoo Sports, the New York Knicks ownership has agreed to pay Jennings the remainder of the $5million he is owed this season.

According to Forbes, the Washington Wizards may have just found the backup point guard the team has been looking for. Brandon Jennings will be a suitable backup for John Wall given his offensive skills.

After Knicks and Brandon Jennings have agreed to a buyout, other teams can claim the 27year old guard off the waivers. If unclaimed, Jennings can opt to join a team of his choice. In this case, Jennings' team of choice is the Washington Wizards.

The Wizards has been the hottest team going into the NBA All-Star break. The team recently defeated the Golden State Warriors, showcasing its offensive efficiency along the way.

The offensive duties are mostly shared by the Wizards' front court duo of John Wall and Bradley Beal. Brandon Jennings, a proven scorer, can provide that much-needed firepower coming off the bench.

A three-guard lineup featuring Wall, Beal and Jennings is also a possibility to provide more floor spacing and options at the offensive end of the floor. Brandon Jennings, an able passer and penetrator, can also dish assists to open shooters while drawing the defense to him.

The recently waived Brandon Jennings must first clear waivers before joining the Washington Wizards. Meanwhile, there seem to be player movements now than before the NBA trade deadline. Deron Williams is set to join the Cavaliers and Andrew Bogut is expected to follow suit. Matt Barnes is reportedly going to the Golden State Warriors.
